Discussion of the dynamic forces that fans produce as part of normal operation and abnormal operation (stall, surge and vortex shedding). Test procedures to identify these forces. Rotor Dynamic issues of SWSI fans. Modal properties of fan impellers. Foundation design requirements.
Prof. Pennacchi shall be presenting a Keynote talk on:
“Dynamic Coefficients of Fluid-Film Bearings and Seals in Rotating Machines: Models and Experimental Tests”.
An overview on the accurate modeling of rotating machines. Since good accuracy has been reached since decades for the shafts, while dynamic coefficients of fluid-film bearings and of labyrinth/brush seals are still roughly evaluated in some cases, this last topic is the focus of this presentation.
This keynote will deal not only with sophisticated modeling of bearings (TEHD/pin stiffness, etc.), of labyrinth seals (improved bulk flow methods) and of brush seals (equivalent stiffness) but also on experimental test on special test rigs (for TPJB and Labyrinth seals) to validate the models and on experimental evidences of the effects of brush seals on the stability of machines (spiral vibrations / limit cycles).
Prof. El-Shafei shall be presenting a Keynote talk on:
“Machine Diagnosis as a Standardized Approach”.
This keynote talk shall present the approach adopted by ISO in the ISO 13373 series. A step-by-step flow chart approach with fault tables and examples has been adopted in the ISO 13373 series. The keynote talk discusses the diagnosis of common faults in rotating machines including installation faults and bearing faults. Diagnosis of particular machines including gas and steam turbines, fans and blowers, hydraulic machines and electric motors are discussed. The success of this standardized diagnostic approach in field applications is illustrated through many field examples.
